This vintage Japanese haribako is a practical small sewing chest designed to keep needles, thread, cloth notions, and handwork tools neatly organized. The front features an asymmetric drawer arrangement with two small drawers at left, a deeper drawer at right, and a wider lower drawer, all fitted with simple metal pulls. At the top, a hinged lid opens to a long interior tray, with a smaller removable tray nested inside for finer sewing accessories. The warm brown wood and lively figured grain give the piece a distinctive presence while preserving its straightforward utility.

Today, this compact haribako remains useful for sewing supplies, mending tools, embroidery materials, or other small household essentials.
