This vintage Japanese haribako is a compact sewing chest designed for organizing needlework tools and small household essentials. The form combines a hinged top compartment with a neatly arranged set of drawers below, including a long lower drawer and smaller drawers above in an asymmetrical layout. The exterior has a rich reddish-brown tone with visible flowing grain, while the interior wood is left lighter in contrast. Simple metal pulls and top hinges add to its practical, workmanlike character.

Its compact size makes it easy to place on a shelf, cabinet, or worktable while still providing useful storage for sewing notions, threads, patterns, and other small items.
