Vintage Japanese Porcelain Kazarizara Decorative Plate, Mid Showa 1946-1965 | SKU: 26J-0532
A sweeping landscape in cobalt blue and gold -- mountain peaks, sailing boats, and a thatched cottage rendered on luminous white porcelain.
A kazarizara is a traditional Japanese decorative display plate, prized as much for its painted artistry as for its functional form. This shallow oval plate presents a classic sansui -- mountain-water landscape -- in the blue-and-gold palette favored by mid-Showa era Japanese porcelain workshops. Layered mountains rise behind a riverside thatched cottage shaded by tall pines, while small sailing vessels glide across calm water in the middle distance. Gold enamel detailing traces the foliage, rooflines, and shoreline with fine, deliberate strokes, contrasting beautifully against soft cobalt washes. A red square seal mark appears within the scene, consistent with an artist or kiln attribution mark of the period. The scalloped rim is banded in deep cobalt with a gilt outer edge, and the underside is finished in a clean white glaze over a raised foot ring -- hallmarks of quality Japanese porcelain craft.
At nearly thirteen inches across, this vintage Japanese decorative plate makes a striking living room accent displayed on a plate stand or wall-mounted holder. Its serene landscape palette -- cool blues, warm golds, and crisp white -- pairs naturally with Japandi style interiors and wabi-sabi aesthetic spaces. Use it as a sophisticated dining table centerpiece or an entryway accent to set a calm, cultivated tone. It also makes a meaningful and unique gift for collectors of Japanese vintage ceramics or for Japanophiles who appreciate handcrafted vintage Japanese craft.
