Vintage Japanese Porcelain Koro Incense Burner, Mid Showa 1946-1965 | SKU: 26J-0460

A small blue-and-white porcelain koro with openwork sides, sized for quiet daily use and display.

This petite vintage Japanese porcelain koro has a simple cylindrical form with hand-pierced openwork around the upper body, allowing fragrance and smoke to pass through while giving the piece a light, airy presence. The glaze is a soft pale celadon-white with blue underglaze decoration: a loosely brushed band near the rim and a repeating tapered motif around the lower half. The top remains open, and the body is compact and upright, making it well suited for incense use or display as a small ceramic accent. The underside shows an unglazed foot ring and kiln grit consistent with practical vintage production.

At just over four inches tall, this vintage Japanese koro is an easy piece to place on a shelf, tea area, entry table, or meditation corner. Its openwork body and calm blue-and-white palette pair naturally with wabi-sabi and Japandi interiors. It may also be appreciated simply as a small decorative ceramic object by collectors of vintage Japanese pottery and porcelain.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer vintage pieces that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
