Description

Japanese Tansu Style Vanity Chest

This custom-order reference example shows a Japanese tansu style vanity chest with a warm teak finish on fir. The pictured piece is kept as an inspirational reference and is not available for purchase.

Design Overview

This vanity chest combines drawer storage on the left with a larger cabinet section on the right, expressing the clean lines and dark hardware accents often associated with tansu-inspired furniture. In plain English, tansu refers to traditional Japanese cabinetry and chests designed for practical household storage.

The front includes four stacked drawers with metal pulls, a wide upper drawer across the right section, and a pair of sliding-style paneled doors below. The top is arranged with a covered surface at the left and an open recessed compartment at the right, supporting its vanity-chest form and giving the piece a distinctive two-part layout.
