SKU#: 140313
This Japanese style media chest is a custom-order example designed for television and media-room use. The documented specifications identify it as an ash wood cabinet with a teak finish, measuring 52”W x 19”D x 29”H. Its low, wide proportions suit media placement, while the front combines drawers, a cabinet door, and open lattice-front sections that support organized storage with a strong tansu-inspired look.
Design Details
The case has a substantial top, a clean rectilinear silhouette, and dark metal drawer pulls that reinforce the Japanese-inspired styling. Across the front are multiple lower drawers, a smaller upper door at the left, and two central open compartments screened by kumiko-style lattice fronts. This arrangement gives the piece the functional presence of a media chest while adding architectural texture to the room.
In Japanese furniture vocabulary, tansu refers broadly to cabinetry and chests built for practical household storage. Here, that influence is expressed through the low stance, framed front, drawer-focused layout, and decorative lattice panels adapted for contemporary media use.
