Japanese Tansu Style Console Chest
Custom-order reference example; the pictured item is not available for purchase.
This Japanese tansu style console chest is a custom-order reference piece documented in elm with a Golden Oak finish. With its long, low profile and mixed drawer-and-door front, it is designed for console storage while drawing on the look of traditional Japanese tansu, a term commonly used for cabinetry and chests with practical compartmentalized storage.
The photographed example features a broad top, multiple upper and lower drawers, a central sliding-door section with a lattice-style front, and a right-side cabinet door with vertical slat detailing and a visible lock plate. Dark metal pull hardware reinforces the tansu-inspired character while keeping the overall form suitable for use as a console chest.

Design Notes
The long rectangular top provides a generous display surface, while the varied compartment layout suggests flexible storage for dining, media, or entryway use. The combination of drawers, sliding-front center storage, and a side cupboard gives this custom piece the asymmetrical utility often associated with tansu-inspired furniture, interpreted here in a console format.
