Vintage Japanese Hand-Carved Wooden Hikidashi, Late Showa 1966-1989 | SKU: 26J-0751

A compact three-section hikidashi richly carved with large floral motifs across the front, sides, and top.

This is a vintage Japanese wooden hikidashi from the Late Showa era, made as a small tabletop storage piece with deeply carved decoration. The front is divided into three pull-out sections, each carved in high relief with large blooming flowers and foliage. Matching carved floral patterns continue across the top and both sides, while the back is left plain. The warm reddish-brown finish highlights the depth of the carving, and the shaped lower apron gives the piece a finished decorative presence suitable for display as well as everyday use.

At roughly a foot square, this hikidashi is well suited for organizing small personal items on a desk, shelf, or countertop. It can be used for stationery, sewing tools, accessories, keepsakes, or other household essentials that benefit from being neatly separated. Its dense all-over carving also makes it an eye-catching accent in interiors that mix vintage Japanese craft with natural wood textures.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer vintage pieces that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
