This vintage Japanese haribako is a practical domestic sewing chest dating to the mid-Showa period. The form combines a hinged top section with a removable long tray and a small lidded compartment, along with a fitted arrangement of front drawers for organizing thread, needles, scissors, cloth notions, and other small household sewing tools. The exterior shows an attractive dark reddish-brown finish with visible linear and swirling grain, while the interior is left in lighter natural wood.
