This vintage Japanese haribako is a traditional sewing chest designed for keeping needlework tools neatly arranged in a small footprint. The upper lid lifts to reveal an open interior compartment, while the front is fitted with five drawers in an offset arrangement: one long drawer at the top, two smaller drawers beneath, a medium drawer at lower left, and a deeper full-width drawer at the bottom. The drawer fronts are finished in a boldly figured wood grain pattern, and each drawer is fitted with a simple metal pull. Rounded upper corners, a slightly overhanging lid, and a low integral base give the piece its tidy, practical form.

At just over a foot wide, this haribako works well as a sewing companion, craft organizer, or compact tabletop storage piece. It can hold thread, needles, scissors, thimbles, ribbon, and other small tools, and it also adapts easily for stationery, keepsakes, or other household items.
