Vintage Japanese Flower Vase Kutani-ware "Tokuda Yasokichi" Porcelain, Late Showa 1966-1989 | SKU: 26J-0693-1

A striking Japanese porcelain flower vase with a rounded body, long neck, and luminous gradient glaze, accompanied by its original wooden storage box.

This elegant Kutani-ware flower vase is formed with a full bulbous body rising into a tall, slender neck and a gently flared mouth. Its glossy glaze moves in bands of deep aubergine to dark blue, vivid green, and bright sky blue at the neck, creating a dramatic color transition strongly associated with modern Kutani studio ceramics. The underside shows a recessed white foot with a red overglaze signature, and the vase is accompanied by a fitted wooden tomobako bearing calligraphy and seal marks. Together, the refined silhouette, saturated glaze, and signed presentation make this a compelling decorative vase from the late Showa period.

In a modern interior, this vase works beautifully as a sculptural accent on a shelf, credenza, or tokonoma-style display. The narrow mouth lends itself to a restrained ikebana arrangement or a few carefully chosen stems, while the vivid glazing gives the piece enough presence to stand on its own without flowers. It is an appealing choice for collectors of Japanese porcelain and for anyone drawn to the bold color effects of vintage Kutani ware.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer vintage pieces that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
