Vintage Japanese Kyodai Dressing Mirror, 1980s, Showa Era (SKU 25D-417-2)
Showa-era floor dressing mirror with integrated tansu-style storage
This vintage Japanese dressing mirror, or kyōdai, features a tall rectangular swing mirror rising from a low wooden base, creating an elegant vertical silhouette typical of early 20th-century design. The rich, dark finish highlights the straight grain of the timber, while the simple frame and exposed joinery give it a calm, architectural presence suited to both traditional and modern interiors.
Beneath the mirror, the base is crafted in a tansu-inspired style with a striking stepped pattern of drawer fronts, offering practical storage for accessories, cosmetics, or small garments. The mirror pivots on metal side posts for angle adjustment, and the broad top surface can serve as a compact vanity, making this Showa-era piece as functional today as when it was first used in a Japanese dressing room.
