Japanese Tansu Style Dresser Custom-Order Reference
This custom-order reference example shows a Japanese tansu style dresser made in reclaimed elm wood with a teak finish. The pictured piece is kept as a reference example and is not available for purchase. Its broad 84-inch form, multiple graduated drawers, and dark iron-style hardware give it the organized, symmetrical look associated with tansu-inspired storage furniture.
In plain terms, tansu refers to traditional Japanese cabinetry and chests designed for practical household storage. This dresser interprets that look in a wide, low format suitable for clothing and general storage, with banks of larger drawers at each side and a vertical stack of smaller drawers at the center.
Design Details
The front is arranged with four larger drawers on the left, four larger drawers on the right, and six smaller center drawers. Round dark pulls and escutcheon-style plates reinforce the Japanese tansu style, while the warm teak-toned finish highlights the active grain of the reclaimed elm. Close-up views also show a framed top edge and substantial case construction that suit the piece's large scale.
