Description

Japanese Tansu Style Dresser

This custom-order reference example shows a Japanese tansu style dresser with a warm teak finish on fir wood. The pictured piece is not available for purchase. Documented at 30”W x 16”D x 39”, it combines the look of traditional Japanese chest cabinetry with a practical dresser format.

In plain terms, tansu refers to Japanese cabinetry made for storage. Here, that influence is expressed through the stepped drawer layout, dark metal-style pulls, and contrasting decorative hardware across the lower door panel.

Design Details

The front presents multiple drawers in graduated sizes above and below a small central cabinet door, creating a balanced yet distinctive tansu-inspired arrangement. The case has a projecting top, a recessed base, and dark round and strap-style hardware accents that reinforce the Japanese style noted in the original specification.

The side view also shows the cabinet depth and the horizontal side framing that gives the piece a strong architectural profile suitable for bedroom or general household storage.
