This Japanese tansu style desk is a custom-order reference example and is not available for purchase. Documented in elm wood with a clear finish, it measures 47”W x 24”D x 30”H and adapts the practical, compartmented character associated with tansu furniture into a desk format.
Tansu is a Japanese term commonly used for cabinetry and storage furniture designed with straightforward utility and strong visual structure. In this desk, that influence is expressed through a clean rectangular case, a solid writing surface, and a bank of three small drawers that keeps everyday desk items close at hand while maintaining an orderly look.
The photographed example shows a warm wood tone, a simple cabinet form, and dark drawer pulls that stand out against the lighter wood. One side appears to include an open leg space suitable for seated use, while the drawer section creates a balanced tansu-inspired layout that is both functional and visually grounded.
This configuration suits use as a writing desk, study desk, or compact work table. The drawer bank supports organization for papers and small accessories, while the broad top provides a practical working surface. The tansu-inspired styling gives the piece a straightforward architectural presence without excessive ornament.
