Description
This wooden carving depicts Daikoku, one of the Seven Lucky Gods (Shichifukujin) in Japanese folklore, sitting atop a wood block. Crafted from light-finished keyaki wood (Japanese zelkova), the natural grain of the wood beautifully enhances the fine details of the carving. Daikoku is traditionally recognized as the god of wealth, prosperity, and the harvest, often depicted with a broad, joyful smile, a bag of treasures slung over his shoulder, and his iconic mallet of fortune (uchide no kozuchi) in hand.
