Vintage Japanese Ikebana / Decorative Vase, 1990s, Heisei Era (SKU 25D-332-0)

Heisei-era porcelain vase with misty mountain and forest landscape in soft blue-grey glazes

This rounded Japanese porcelain vase captures a tranquil mountain landscape rendered in delicate gradations of blue-grey. Layers of mist drift across distant hills while ranks of stylised evergreen trees emerge softly from the haze, evoking a quiet morning in a cedar forest. The subtly speckled glaze and restrained palette give the piece a refined, contemporary feel while remaining rooted in traditional nihonga-inspired scenery.

Thrown with a generous, globular body and a small, neatly finished mouth, the vase is ideal as a hanaire for simple branches or a seasonal ikebana arrangement, yet it is equally striking displayed on its own. The base bears a blue underglaze artist’s signature surrounded by gilt characters, and the vase comes housed in its original signed wooden tomobako, underscoring its quality as a studio work from late 20th-century Japan.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
