Glossy vermilion urushi and a fitted tomobako for refined tea presentation.

This vintage Showa Era Japanese tea set is presented in a signed wooden tomobako, with a rounded lacquered body finished in rich vermilion. The high-gloss surface and black interior create a striking contrast, giving the piece a strong presence even when at rest.

Likely intended as a chabitsu or tea service container, it reflects the quiet elegance of Japanese lacquerware. The handwritten inscriptions and corded box add a collector’s appeal, making it suitable for display, tea ceremony-inspired interiors, or thoughtful storage.
