Vintage Japanese Chabitsu Tea Utensil Box, Mid-Showa 1946-1965 | SKU: 26J-0392
A beautifully turned wooden chabitsu with rich grain and a broad lidded form for tea utensils or tabletop storage.
A chabitsu is a traditional Japanese container used to hold tea-serving items, and this example has the classic wide circular form well suited to that purpose. Crafted in wood with a warm reddish-brown tone, it features a gently rounded body, a fitted circular lid, and a spacious open interior. The grain is especially prominent across the lid and sides, giving the piece a strong decorative presence even when closed. Its low, broad proportions and smooth turned construction create a practical covered vessel that is equally appealing as an object of vintage Japanese woodcraft.
At 12 inches in diameter, this chabitsu offers useful scale for storing tea utensils, packets, napkins, or other household items. It also works well in a modern interior as a tabletop organizer, entryway catchall, or decorative lidded box. The clean circular silhouette and richly figured wood make it an easy fit for Japandi, wabi-sabi, and other natural-material interiors.
