Showa-era standing mirror with elegant arched frame and warm burlwood grain
This vintage Japanese standing mirror captures the refined simplicity of early Showa design, pairing a tall arched glass with a beautifully figured wooden frame. The slender uprights rise from sculpted geta-style feet, giving the piece a light, architectural presence that works equally well in a tansu-lined bedroom or a modern minimalist interior.
The frame is finished in a rich burl-like veneer, its swirling grain patterns providing subtle ornament in place of heavy carving. Metal side knobs allow the mirror to tilt within its support, while twin horizontal rails and a solid lower panel ground the composition. A classic example of 1940s Japanese craftsmanship, it offers both practical function and a quietly luxurious Showa-era accent.
A versatile vintage Japanese mirror that brings warm wood tones and understated Showa elegance to any space.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
