This tall two-section cabinet exemplifies the practical ingenuity of mid-Showa Japanese vintage furniture: the upper section features plain sliding doors fitted with round recessed metal knobs above a second tier of finely latticed grid-work sliding doors -- a hallmark of mizuya construction -- designed to allow air circulation around stored dishware while keeping out dust and insects. A band of shallow pull-out drawers fitted with arched metal bail handles bridges the upper and lower sections, ideal for small utensils and pantry goods.
