Keyaki Wood | Two-Section Construction
Vintage Japanese tea chest from the Shōwa period, crafted in richly grained keyaki (Japanese zelkova). The warm reddish-brown tone and dramatic swirling grain patterns highlight the natural character of the wood.
This piece is constructed in two stackable sections for ease of transport and placement. The upper section features sliding glass doors revealing adjustable shelving and a shoji-backed display compartment with a curved accent shelf. Small sliding doors above provide additional enclosed storage.
The lower section includes sliding panel doors and a bank of three drawers fitted with traditional metal pulls. The balanced asymmetrical layout reflects classic mid-century chadansu design—functional storage combined with refined presentation.
A versatile cabinet suitable for tea ware, ceramics, or curated display in both traditional and modern interiors.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique/vintage items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
