Vintage Japanese Bell, Reproduction (SKU 25D-287)

Showa-era bronze omamori bell with Tokugawa crest and Tōshōgū shrine inscription

This richly patinated vintage Japanese bell is cast in a rounded, almost spherical form, deeply carved with scrolling foliage and circular medallions bearing the stylised three-leaf crest of the Tokugawa clan. The front is inscribed 東照宮 (Tōshōgū), indicating a connection to one of the famous shrines dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, and the dark bronze surface reveals warm highlights where the raised design has been gently worn by age and handling.

Suspended from a woven cord at the top, this omamori-style bell would originally have served as a protective charm or commemorative piece, likely purchased as a shrine souvenir during the Showa period. Its bold mon design, flowing arabesques and clear, resonant form make it an atmospheric addition to a butsudan altar, tokonoma display, or any collection of Japanese shrine and temple artifacts.
