This vintage Japanese board tray, likely dating to the Mid Showa period (1946-1965), features a broad square form with a shallow raised rim and softly rounded corners. The surface is finished in a dark lacquer with dense silver-toned speckling that gives the piece a lively, stone-like visual texture. Its wide flat field and low profile make it especially versatile, while the black underside offers a strong contrast to the patterned top surface.
