A compact two-panel folding towel rack with rows of small hanging hooks, simple open framing, and a warm aged dark finish.
This antique Japanese towel rack is made in an iko-style folding form, with two open rectangular panels joined by central metal hinges. Each panel has a gently extended top bar fitted underneath with a row of small metal hooks, making it well suited for hanging hand towels or other lightweight textiles. The lower section includes a horizontal support and a wood infill board with bold visible grain, while flat feet at the base help stabilize the stand when opened.
The piece has a restrained silhouette that works beautifully in both traditional and modern interiors. Its modest scale and folding construction make it especially versatile: useful in a bath area, dressing space, or guest room for hand towels, washcloths, small cloths, or light accessories. The dark finish, visible wear, and simple utilitarian craftsmanship give it the quiet character prized in everyday Japanese antiques.
A practical and beautifully understated Japanese antique that brings everyday function and sculptural simplicity to the home.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
