Description

Japanese Style Media Chest

This custom-order reference example shows a Japanese style media chest designed for television and media-room use. The pictured piece is not available for purchase. Documented specifications list elm wood construction, a natural finish, and a substantial 65”W x 22”D x 28”H size.

This low, wide cabinet follows the practical format of a media chest while drawing on Japanese tansu-inspired design language. The front combines a broad top for a television with paneled storage below, giving the piece a balanced, architectural presence suited to a living room or media space.

Visible details include a clean rectilinear case, framed door and drawer fronts, and openwork lattice panels across the facade. The natural wood finish keeps the grain and warm tone prominent, while the long top and low profile support the intended media function.

Design Notes

Japanese furniture terminology often uses the word tansu to describe a cabinet or chest. In this example, that influence is expressed through the horizontal proportions, framed facade, and lattice-style front treatment adapted for modern media storage.
