Japanese Tansu Style Night Stand Custom-Order Reference in Oak with Teak Finish

Japanese Tansu Style Night Stand

This custom-order reference example is a Japanese Tansu style night stand and is shown here for inspiration only; the pictured piece is not available for purchase. Documented with oak wood construction and a teak finish, it combines compact bedside function with clean cabinet-style storage and simple hardware details.

In plain English, tansu refers to traditional Japanese cabinetry and chests known for practical storage and strong, straightforward forms. This night stand adapts that look into a bedside cabinet format, with a drawer above and a cupboard-style door below for convenient everyday use.

Design Details

The photographed example shows a rectilinear case with a framed top, a single upper drawer, and a lower cabinet door fitted with dark metal hardware. The warm medium-brown finish highlights the oak grain and supports the documented teak finish. Its taller bedside proportion makes it suitable for placing a lamp, clock, or reading essentials within easy reach.
