Vintage Japanese Celadon-Glazed Flower Vase (Kabin), Heisei era | SKU: 26M-071

A luminous celadon-glazed kabin -- signed, boxed, and utterly serene.

A kabin is a traditional Japanese flower vase used in ikebana -- the art of Japanese floral arrangement -- as well as in tokonoma alcove displays and tea ceremony settings. This example is finished in a flawless seiji (celadon) glaze: a cool, translucent jade-green tone achieved through precise kiln firing and long revered in both Chinese and Japanese ceramic traditions. The form is gently ovoid, swelling from a narrow foot and tapering back to a slightly open mouth, with clean unadorned walls that let the luminous glaze speak entirely for itself. The unglazed foot ring reveals a warm terracotta-colored clay body, and a small impressed potter's seal is visible on the base -- a mark of individual authorship. The vase is accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako), inscribed with the potter's name and the piece title, confirming this as a deliberate artist work rather than a production piece. This is a fine example of vintage Japanese studio ceramics from the Heisei era.

In a modern home, this celadon kabin earns its place as a standalone sculptural object -- no flowers required. Its soft jade tone complements Japandi style interiors, minimalist decor, and wabi-sabi aesthetic spaces equally well. Stand it on a sideboard or console as a living room accent, place it on a bedroom nightstand as a calming focal point, or use it as a bud vase on a dining table or home office shelf for a single stem of greenery. The tomobako adds collector value and makes this a distinctive housewarming gift or a meaningful gift for collectors of Japanese studio pottery.

A quietly radiant piece of vintage Japanese studio ceramics -- bringing the meditative calm of the tea room into any contemporary space.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer vintage pieces that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
