Vintage Japanese Bamboo Ikebana Flower Holder, Early Showa 1927-1945 | SKU: 26M-839-3

A sculptural bamboo ikebana piece with quiet wabi-sabi presence and striking vertical form.

This vintage Japanese bamboo flower holder is crafted from a thick section of bamboo with a tall cylindrical body and an elevated upper opening connected by a carved vertical support. The design creates two visible receptacles: a larger open cylinder below and a smaller circular opening at the top, giving the piece an architectural silhouette well suited to sparse branch or stem arrangements. Its warm amber-brown surface shows natural tonal variation, darkened nodes, and honest age wear that enhance its handmade character.

Displayed on its own, this piece brings strong sculptural appeal to a shelf, tokonoma-inspired corner, or Japandi interior. It is especially well suited to minimalist floral styling, seasonal branches, or as a decorative bamboo accent that highlights the natural beauty of the material and the asymmetry valued in Japanese design.

A distinctive vintage bamboo ikebana form that offers both natural texture and sculptural simplicity.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer vintage pieces that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
