This handcrafted Japanese vintage screen dates to the Early Showa period (1927-1945) and is built from a rich dark-stained hardwood framework filled with tightly woven split-bamboo panels -- a technique known as sudare weaving -- in which fine bamboo splints are bound together with cotton cord to create a semi-translucent, light-filtering surface. Each panel is framed at the top with a gracefully curved cloud-shaped rail and fitted with a slender bamboo dowel accent bar, lending the piece a refined yet natural character consistent with vintage Japanese craft of the era.
