Antique Japanese Ko Tansu Small Chest With Multi Sized Mokko Style Pull Drawers (SKU 25D-G012)

Compact Taishō-era ko tansu with multi-sized drawers and elegant mokkō-style iron pulls

This antique Japanese ko tansu (small chest) offers a beautifully balanced façade of staggered drawers, each fitted with graceful mokkō-style forged iron pulls. The warm, honey-toned sugi or kiri-style wood is framed by original corner and edge hardware, giving the piece the quiet strength and refined simplicity associated with early 20th-century Japanese cabinetry.

Designed as a functional storage chest for writing tools, valuables, or small garments, the tansu features a mix of shallow and deep drawers, plus round lock plates that add a subtle decorative accent. Its modest scale makes it ideal for use on a sideboard, desk, or tokonoma alcove, where the natural grain and aged metalwork can be appreciated as both practical storage and authentic Taishō-period décor.
