Antique Japanese Ko Tansu Small Chest With Kakute Style Pull Drawers And Small Katabiraki Door (SKU 25D-G025)
Compact Taishō-era ko tansu with kakute-style pulls, katabiraki door, and original hand-forged iron fittings.
This charming antique Japanese ko tansu (small chest) showcases the warm grain of its solid kiri (paulownia) wood, framed by a full set of forged iron corner plates and round lock escutcheons. The front is arranged with multiple graduated drawers fitted with classic kakute-style pulls, giving the piece both a balanced rhythm and excellent everyday usability.
To the right side, a small katabiraki door opens to reveal two inner drawers with ring pulls, a traditional storage solution for valuables and personal effects. Rich patina to the iron hardware, subtle wear to the wood, and side carry handles all speak to its Taishō-period origins, while the low, compact format makes it ideal as an accent chest, bedside piece, or entryway tansu in a modern interior.
