Antique Japanese Ko Tansu Small Chest With Kendon Buta Style Doors And Mokko Style Pull Drawers (SKU 25D-G014)

Compact Meiji-era ko tansu with refined kendon-buta doors and elegant mokko-style drawer pulls.

This antique Japanese ko tansu (small chest) showcases beautifully figured hardwood veneers to the front, framed by darker grain that accentuates the vertical lines of the piece. The twin kendon-buta style doors lift off to reveal two clean interior compartments with fixed shelves, ideal for storing documents, tea utensils, or cherished small objects while keeping the façade visually calm and composed.

Below, a pair of drawers fitted with classic mokko-style iron pulls provide additional enclosed storage and a pleasing visual balance. The warm, hand-rubbed finish highlights the swirling grain and subtle age patina, making this ko tansu a versatile accent for a tokonoma alcove, entryway, or tabletop display, and a fine example of understated Meiji-period cabinetry.
