An antique Ko-Imari porcelain futamono covered bowl, richly decorated in blue-and-white tako-karakusa scrollwork and preserved with its tomobako.

This substantial Japanese covered bowl is formed in porcelain with a rounded body, fitted lid, and sculptural white porcelain handle. The exterior is densely hand-painted in cobalt blue with repeating tako-karakusa, or octopus-vine, scroll designs that wrap continuously across both bowl and lid. A geometric border encircles the lower body near the foot, adding a crisp architectural contrast to the flowing spiral decoration. The interior is left plain in glossy white, emphasizing the dramatic contrast between the vessel's richly ornamented exterior and its clean serving surface. The piece is accompanied by a fitted wooden tomobako with carrying cord and paper label.
