Vintage Japanese Ikebana Vase (SKU 25D-228-4)

Hand-painted hydrangea porcelain vase with gold accents and signed tomobako box

This rounded vintage Japanese vase is crafted in fine white porcelain, its softly flared lip and foot giving a classic, balanced silhouette. Across the body, a luxuriant ajisai (hydrangea) motif is painted in rich underglaze blue, with each petal and leaf brushed in fluid strokes that reveal the hand of an experienced kyō-yaki style decorator.

Clusters of warm coral and pale yellow florets sit atop the blue foliage, highlighted by shimmering squares of applied gold that lend a refined contemporary touch typical of late Shōwa to early Heisei design. The vase is signed on the base and comes in its original calligraphed wooden tomobako, making it ideal for display in a tokonoma, for seasonal ikebana arrangements, or as a distinctive piece of Japanese décor.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
