Vintage Japanese Nabeshima Goyouyaki "鍋島御用窯" White-Glazed Porcelain Tiger Figurine with Tomobako, Mid-Showa Era, 1946-1965 | SKU: 26J-0428

A striking white-glazed porcelain tiger seated in a powerful pose, accompanied by its original inscribed wooden tomobako storage box.

This vintage Japanese tiger figurine is a sculptural decorative piece modeled with strong character and crisp detail. The animal is shown seated upright with its head turned, open mouth baring teeth, and tail curling forward along one side of the body. The glossy white glaze emphasizes the flowing carved stripes, layered mane, muscular legs, and expressive facial features. The owner identifies the piece as Nabeshima Goyouyaki (鍋島御用窯), and it is presented together with a fitted wooden tomobako hand-brushed with the large character for tiger.

At nearly nine inches high, this figurine has excellent display presence for a tokonoma alcove, shelf, mantel, or cabinet. Its monochrome finish makes it easy to place in both traditional and modern interiors, where the sculpted silhouette and auspicious tiger motif stand out beautifully. The accompanying tomobako adds collector appeal and makes the set especially suitable for admirers of vintage Japanese ceramics and animal figural art.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer vintage pieces that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
