Japanese Sencha Tea Set, Showa Era (25D-188-2)

Shudei (Red Clay) Ware | With Original Tomobako

Traditional Japanese senchaki set crafted in fine shudei (朱泥焼) red clay. The set includes a side-handled kyūsu teapot, matching yuzamashi (cooling bowl), and five tea cups.

The clay body displays a smooth, matte vermilion tone characteristic of high-fired shudei ware. Subtle carved floral motifs decorate the surface, adding restrained elegance without interrupting the clean silhouette.

Shudei clay is valued for its fine texture and heat retention, making it especially suitable for brewing sencha and other Japanese green teas.

Presented in the original wooden storage box (tomobako) with calligraphy inscription. A refined mid- to late-20th-century tea service suitable for daily use or collection.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
