Vintage Japanese Tachi-kake Style Sword Stand (SKU 25D-076-2)
Showa-era tachi-kake style stand with elegant gold cart motif
This vintage Japanese sword stand is a graceful single-sword tachi-kake, designed to display a katana or tachi vertically. The gently arched support rises from a rounded base, giving the piece a poised, almost sculptural silhouette that complements the clean lines of a blade and scabbard.
The base is decorated with a finely rendered gold image of a Heian-style ox cart amid stylised clouds and foliage, evoking classical courtly scenes often found in traditional maki-e lacquer. Warm brown tones and a softly patinated surface give this Showa-era stand a subtle wabi-sabi character, making it an ideal accent for a samurai, nihonto, or Japanese interior display.
