Vintage Japanese Sudare Misu Blind (SKU 25D-193-1)

Elegant Showa-era sudare misu blind with refined silk brocade trim and decorative tassels

This vintage Japanese sudare misu blind is finely woven from slender natural slats, creating a light-filtering screen that softens sunlight while preserving a sense of openness. The vertical white weft threads add a subtle rhythm to the surface, evoking the cool, airy atmosphere of a traditional summer washitsu (tatami room).

Framed in warm-toned silk brocade and suspended from metal hooks, the blind rolls smoothly and is secured with ornate kumihimo cords finished in weighty tassels. Ideal as a vintage Japanese room divider, window shade, or alcove accent, it brings authentic Showa-period character and understated luxury to both classic and contemporary interiors.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
