Showa-era carved lacquer drawer chest with bold floral relief

This compact vintage Japanese small drawer chest features a striking carved peony motif in deep red-brown and black, typical of mid–Showa sensibilities. The front is worked in high relief, with each drawer face seamlessly integrated into the overall design so the pattern flows uninterrupted across the cabinet.
