Showa-era wooden Haribako with rich dark finish and metal pulls

This compact vintage Japanese chest of drawers, or sewing box, reflects the streamlined aesthetics of mid-Showa interiors. Crafted in solid wood with a deep reddish-brown stain, it features softly rounded front edges and a low, stable plinth base, giving it a modest yet quietly refined presence on a desk, tansu, or dresser top.

Five staggered drawers of varying sizes provide practical storage for stationery, accessories, sewing notions, or tea utensils, each fitted with simple metal handles typical of 1940s–1950s Showa-era design. The surface shows gentle wear, small scuffs, and patina consistent with age and daily use, enhancing its character while preserving its functionality as a charming, usable vintage piece.
