The top is formed from a substantial live-edge slab with an elongated oval outline, and the playing surface is laid out with a rectangular grid appropriate to shogi. The board is supported by multiple irregular natural wood legs, including root-like forms that give the piece a distinctly rustic, handcrafted presence.
