Patchwork-style Showa era tokkuri with inlaid blue-and-white shards and braided cord
This distinctive vintage Japanese sake bottle, or tokkuri, is clad in a mosaic of reclaimed porcelain fragments, each bearing classic blue-and-white motifs of waves, pines, grasses and abstract patterns. The grey ground is hand-decorated with repeating seigaiha (stylised wave) designs, creating a richly textured surface that celebrates the Japanese appreciation for reuse and imperfection.
A cork stopper caps the slender white neck, which is wrapped with a red and natural-fibre braided cord that can be looped as a carrying strap or left to drape decoratively. With its sculptural silhouette and patchwork of antique-style shards, this Showa-period sake bottle works beautifully as a display piece, evoking the warmth of a traditional izakaya or home sake service.
A characterful Showa-era piece that brings the artistry of traditional Japanese sake culture into any interior.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
