Vintage Japanese Pot/Vase (SKU 25D-105-1)

Showa-era tsubo with dramatic drip-glaze in earthy iron, moss green and celadon tones

This vintage Japanese pot is a robust, wheel-thrown tsubo form with a generous shoulder and narrow mouth, typical of mid-20th-century studio and folk kilns. The body is finished in a dark, iron-rich glaze that fires to a charcoal-brown matte, providing a powerful, understated backdrop for the flowing glaze work above.

Around the shoulder, rivulets of green, russet and silvery ash glaze cascade downward, pooling and breaking to reveal subtle textures in the clay beneath, while the mouth is framed by a soft celadon-green rim. Ideal as a statement floor vase, ikebana vessel, or sculptural object, this Showa pottery piece brings wabi-sabi character and authentic Japanese craftsmanship to any interior.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
