Vintage Japanese Wooden Altar Stand, Early Showa 1927-1945 | SKU: 26J-0410
A long, low wooden altar stand with a wide plank top and sculptural pedestal supports, showing warm age and elegant simplicity.
This Japanese altar stand has a restrained, elongated form suited to the display of ritual objects, offerings, or decorative objects. The rectangular top is broad and shallow, with a low overall height and two shaped pedestal supports set beneath. Each support rises from a stepped shoe foot and features a gently carved profile, giving the piece a balanced silhouette that feels both practical and architectural. The wood shows a reddish-brown tone with visible grain and age-softened wear along the edges, contributing to its vintage character.
Today, this piece can be used as a low display stand in a living room, entry, or meditation space, or incorporated into an interior that favors wabi-sabi warmth and handcrafted wood surfaces. Its long, narrow proportions make it especially effective for ceramics, incense vessels, small sculptures, or seasonal arrangements. Collectors will appreciate the strong horizontal line, modest hand-worked details, and the calm presence it brings to a room.
