Vintage Japanese Lantern (SKU 25D-334-2)

Showa-era minka-style wooden electric lantern with warm shoji glow

Carved in the form of a traditional Japanese minka farmhouse, this vintage electric lantern captures the nostalgic charm of mid-Showa interiors. The sculpted roof, with its rhythmic chisel marks and beautifully raised grain, evokes old wooden eaves weathered by time yet preserved with care.

Soft light filters through a circular shoji-style window framed by slender wooden lattice, creating a gentle, ambient glow ideal for a tokonoma alcove, bedside, or entryway console. The rich, warm finish highlights the natural sugi wood patterning, while the integrated cord and inline switch make this piece ready for everyday use in a modern home.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
