Vintage Japanese Kutani Tea Set with Wooden Box – Showa Era Porcelain (SKU 25D-008)
Hand-painted floral Kutani set from 1970s Japan, complete with original storage case
This delightful vintage Japanese Kutani tea set includes a classic side-handled kyusu teapot, coordinating tea cups, and a small handled vessel, all neatly arranged in its original fitted wooden presentation box. The porcelain surface is decorated in a vibrant combination of white, green, black, and delicate gold accents. Stylized cloud motifs frame hand-painted plum blossoms and bamboo, reflecting the traditional shochikubai symbolism of good fortune and resilience.
Dating to the late Showa period, this set reflects the era’s appreciation for functional beauty. The yokode (side-handle) design allows for smooth, controlled pouring, making it especially suited for sencha preparation. Each piece fits precisely within its dedicated compartment in the wooden case, allowing for safe storage and elegant presentation.
Whether used for daily tea rituals, displayed in a tokonoma alcove, or given as a meaningful gift to a tea enthusiast, this set carries the warmth and charm of mid-20th-century Japanese craftsmanship.
