This hand-crafted Japanese tea master "Sen No Rikyu" seated formally in seiza, hands gently folded in his lap and eyes peacefully closed. The artist has captured a moment of calm introspection, with a softly modeled face, rounded cheeks, and a faint, contented smile that gives the piece a warm, human presence.

Glazed in deep black overcoat and pale, stone-like robes, the figure recalls traditional hakama and kimono attire, with a simple cap completing the ensemble. The glossy glaze pools in the folds of the garment, contrasting with the more matte, earthen tones of the exposed skin, making this a characterful Showa-era-style sculpture ideal for a tokonoma alcove, study, or curated vignette of Japanese folk art.
