This is a vintage Japanese personal storage chest called Ko Tansu from Taisho (1910's-1920's). It was made using Japanese Maple (Momiji) and Paulownia (Kirinoki) woods.
It has beautiful continuous wooden grains and detailed elegant handles.
Originally used to store small accessories and bric-a-brac, its contemporary use would function well as a side table or bedside stand.
