Vintage Japanese Kannon Statue (SKU 25D-474)

Graceful hand-carved wooden Kannon from mid-century Japan, with flowing robes and incised inscription.

This vintage Japanese Kannon statue is carved from a dark, fine-grained hardwood, capturing the bodhisattva’s serene presence in a slender, vertical form. The carver has emphasized the gentle sway of the robes, which curve elegantly around the bare feet and create a sense of quiet movement, as if Kannon were stepping forward in compassion.

The back of the figure bears an incised inscription in Japanese characters, adding both spiritual resonance and collectible value. Likely produced in the 1950s Shōwa era, this compact Buddhist sculpture is ideal for a butsudan, tokonoma alcove, or as a contemplative accent in a modern interior.
